Kids Music Class
This class offers introductory piano skills through group and individual activities and assessment. Mel’s enthusiastic and encouraging teaching style helps children gain a love and passion for music as well as confidence in their own growing skills as budding musicians. The children will learn the basic skills of piano as outlined below. The unique learning environment of group lessons are geared to preparing the student to further their musical journey through private instruction after completing the course.

These beginning piano lessons are taught in a group setting. Each session is 8 weeks long and are for students 8 – 12 years of age.
Tuition is $160 per 8 week session.
Sessions are 8 weeks, and begin every quarter in the fall, winter, spring and summer.

Instructor –¬†Melissa Fowler
Melissa Fowler‚Äôs journey with music began at an early age singing with her grandmother and in church.¬† After getting involved in choir and musical theater in high school she decided this was what she wanted to pursue as a career.¬† While attending Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA, she was afforded the opportunity to travel abroad with a gospel choir for missions. Her love of theater grew as well and she played various lead roles in the spring musicals and directed the fall One Act Festival her Junior and Senior year. Mel received her Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and Bachelor of Music education in 2001 and 2003.¬† After completing her degrees, she taught high school and middle school chorus and drama for several years before taking a different direction with her music.¬† She became a missionary and full time worship leader at the International House of Prayer in Atlanta as well as teaching private voice and piano lessons.¬† After transitioning to the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO, in 2010, Mel became voice faculty for Forerunner Music Academy at IHOPU (International House of Prayer University).¬† There she helped write and establish their current vocal curriculum which is used school wide.¬† Mel‚Äôs passion is to see her students find their true unique voice and enjoy the process.¬† Although classically trained, Mel teaches both traditional and modern styles while staying rooted in sound technique.
