Digital Music Production Abelton Live I (Tuesdays 7:00 – 8:15)
Welcome to the Digital Music Production course at Red Clay Music Foundry! This 8-week course will act as an introduction for anyone interested in learning how to produce music, entirely using Ableton Live. Students will be introduced to various approaches to digital music production, helping them to find the best way to express themselves, and they will have the opportunity to produce their own music.
This class will introduce the student to using Ableton Live as a production tool, and will cover:
- Mapping song key and tempo
- Programming / sequencing drums
- Using virtual instruments
- Audio sampling
- Sound replacement
- An introduction to mixing
Digital Music Production Abelton Live II (Thursdays 7:00 – 8:15)
The second installment of the digital music production class will dive deeper into the process. We will be exploring advanced editing techniques, arranging, signal processors, and the mixing/mastering process. Students will have the chance to get more in-depth with Ableton and have greater control over their final sound, eventually being able to complete a song from start to finish, to be released on¬†popular platforms such as Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Spotify, etc.

Instructor – Nick Trotta
Nick has a¬† BA in Music from Colorado State University and is an Honors graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Music’s record engineering program. While at AIM he student taught the Pro Tools 101/110 lab. Furthermore Nick was a Brightleaf music scholar in
Durham, NC in 2001. As a DJ he played Imagine Festival, 420 Festival, Trinumeral Festival, ATHFest WIRED, Dubocracy, and he played during the grand re-opening of the Georgia Theatre in August of 2011. The movie “Athens Burning” about the history of the Georgia Theatre featured an interview that he did about the fire, in 2012. Nick
currently runs Beat Match Records where he helps original electronic artists develop their brand. Nick‚Äôs music is written in Ableton Live and mixed/mastered in Pro Tools.
